Hello, I am Scott, W8AOR, an Amateur Radio Operator -Extra and Vintage Electronics Enthusiast.
The formal business name is Scotty's Sled Shed LLC located in Muskegon, Mi
I have 30 years experience as an RF Engineer. I have worked for and with some of the largest names in the RF industry including Motorola, L3 Harris, EF Johnson, Sprint/Nextel, Verizon, AT&T, Ericsson and Honeywell.
I also hold a commercial FCC General Radiotelephone Operators License.
For 20 years I ran an upholstery business specializing in custom replacement seat covers for Polaris, Arctic Cat, Ski-Doo, Yamaha and Harley Davidson.
I developed custom products that including Hy-Ryze seat modifications and Thin Blue Line non slip seat covers for Police Motorcycle fleets all over North and South America.
I retired the upholstery business in September 2023.
I am a former Motorcycle Rodeo Skills competitor.
Seen to the left is a pic of me with Lock-N-Leans Ben Wolfe's competition bike I made the Thin Blue Line cover for.
Over the past few years, I have been restoring several Vintage pieces of Electronics and Ham Radios.
During my restorations I found there was a lack of viable solutions for components to perform the restorations, especially for the Twist Tab style can capacitors.
While there are some aftermarket and reproduction pieces, they were not cost effective for someone that was trying to make margins on a restored piece. One capacitor alone would cost $40-100+ USD each, and that just was not sustainable for making margins.
So I developed a unique line of custom PCB boards to mount discrete capacitors. This provided the ability to offer other Vintage enthusiasts a competitively priced solution. Most cases my restoration component kits contain the capacitors, capacitor boards, hardware, diodes resistors and installation guides. And all priced at or below the cost to replace one Twist Tab with the aftermarket options.
As an Engineer in my professional career, I was not satisfied with just throwing together a product in my lab, and putting out on the market just because there wasn't a solution.
The products were developed utilizing the skills of professional engineers to design, test and produce the final product.
The Multi-Cap and Uni-Cap boards are professionally made in an actual factory to IPC-2221B specifications for the rated voltages with 2oz copper.
You may see "sledseats.com" printed on older and some current PCB boards. That was the URL I was using during development while I still had the upholstery business going.
I do not view my products as an "Us vs Them" scenario that plagues the common world of capitalism.
I am competing against myself to produce a very high quality product that can appeal to other enthusiast, at an affordable price.
Yes, there are other solutions. Please choose the solution that fits your needs and skills. Support the small business entrepreneurs that are offering solutions for your hobby or business needs.
Many times I will research what is available, and if the solution offered is a well made and cost effective solution, then I will promote that business and applaud them for their creativity.
This world has enough hatred and angst. Small business owners do not need to take part in that chaos. We are better than that.
Here is a YouTube Video where Terry from D-Lab Electronics and I are showcasing a vintage HeathBuilt EUW-27 Science Series Audio Generator.
D-Labs challenged me to develop a kit for this fine piece of equipment. It was quite the challenge, but we prevailed and what a magnificent piece this turned out to be. Please like and subscribe to D-Lab Electronics YouTube and Patreon Page.
Here is one of my fellow Ham colleagues, Will Everett N5OLA, performing a video of my Heathkit HP-23 restoration kit.

Here again is the legendary Terry Dayton from D-Lab electronics performing an upgrade with one of my custom Multi-Cap boards. This is an older video when I was still producing the PCB's with my "Sledseats.com" URL. I was till running the upholstery business at that time.
